As of 15th March 2021, Anu Haverinen has started working at GeoPool. She has 10 years’ experience in mining and metals industry working as both a geologist and a mine planner. She has also been responsible of communicating with landowners and stakeholders regarding licensing and exploration. This is something that has a special place in her heart.

When born in 2007 it was rejected but now becoming 14 years old it was finally approved.

Introducing Niilo and Nea


Niilo and Nea

Mr Niilo Taipale is our latest Exploration Geologist joining our team now in October. Before joining GeoPool, Niilo has since 2016 been actively working in exploration programs for example in the Vihanti-Pyhäsalmi Zn-Cu Belt, in the Central Lappland Greenstone Belt (Au), in the Peräpohja Cu-Co-Au area and in the Koillismaa layered intrusion area (Ni-Cu-PGE). Niilo graduated from the University of Oulu with the M.Sc. thesis; Mineralogy of the Paleoproterozoic Raja, Au-Co prospect, Northern Finland. In addition to drilling supervision, drillcore logging and mapping he is also experienced in low impact soil sampling and biogeochemical exploration (pXRF).

Terhi Virta joins the GeoPool team

We are pleased to welcome a new staff member to our GeoPool team. As of 1st of June 2020 Terhi Virta has started working as an administrative assistant and will be based in the main office in Vantaa.

Terhi has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Studies and Modern Languages for Management Assistants. Previously she has been working as an assistant in Nordea Markets.

17 01 18We are looking for eager geology students to join us for field work this summer. Your responsibilities will be soil/till sampling and geological mapping. Other tasks may become relevant. Work site is in Finland but Sweden and Norway might as well come to consideration. Working period is mainly June-August.

Hyperspectral mapping


2017 02 24 introThis week GeoPool has been mapping more than 5000 meters of drill core with our ASD Terraspec® to determine alteration patterns in a mineralized system. Topaz – which is one of the alteration products at our project – has a diagnostic feature at 2080 nm. The feature occurs as a “dip” in the spectrum as certain molecular bonds of the mineral absorbs these specific wavelengths. Topaz is easily detected even at very low proportions.
